The Project 2049 Institute is deeply saddened by the news of today’s tragic helicopter crash in New Taipei City, Taiwan. We would like to extend our heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those lost in the accident.
“The eight military officers who perished in the crash, including Chief of the General Staff General Shen I-Ming, devoted their lives to ensuring the freedom, safety, and security of Taiwan’s 24 million people,” said Project 2049 Institute Chairman Richard L. Armitage. “To the five survivors of the crash, our best wishes for a full and speedy recovery.”
The Project 2049 Institute team had the honor and privilege of knowing General Shen and others who passed away. These friends and partners will be sorely missed. May their souls rest in peace. And may their families and colleagues rest in the sure knowledge that they lost their lives giving signal service to a cause greater than all of us.Â
You are in our thoughts and prayers.Â
Sincerely,
The Project 2049 Institute
