About Us

The China Economic and Strategy Initiative (CESI) is a nonprofit research organization committed to promoting American values and supporting the United States’ efforts to counter China’s malign actions and uphold a free and open system.

The United States has begun to rapidly evolve its policy on China with questions of how it must posture itself to compete long term across the diplomatic, defense, and economic arenas. CESI’s core mission is to ensure that policymakers are equipped with the knowledge and “tool kit” necessary to develop a comprehensive and actionable strategy to compete with China.

CESI is located in Arlington, Virginia. It was founded in 2022 and is led by the Honorable Randall Schriver as Chairman, and Dan Blumenthal as Vice Chairman. We are a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization that is committed to producing independent and non-partisan research.

The views expressed in the research, events, and programs by CESI are those of the Initiative and do not officially represent the views of our contributors.
