JEFF M. SMITH: … What do you make of all this recent activity and attention over Taiwan, and do you subscribe to this theory that the Chinese leadership believes its window [for action on Taiwan] is closing?

RANDALL G. SCHRIVER : …Taiwan is facing more pressure, including military pressure, flights across the centerline, bomber flights across the island, more diplomatic pressures as China strips away diplomatic allies of Taiwan, so there’s no question that they are trying to force the issue … by trying to make Taiwan feel insecure or isolated … but I believe there are serious questions about whether the Chinese could pull off a complex operation like this…
