DAVID ZHANG: …Â What exactly is the importance of [Taiwanâ€™s] ports and harbors in a plan of invasion by the Chinese military?
IAN EASTON:Â â€¦ For the Chinese military, the ports in Taiwan matter a great deal because Taiwanâ€™s â€¦ potential invasion beaches are not very big. And because Taiwan is relatively well-defended â€¦ [the PLA] would need to land a lot of troops on Taiwan to have any reasonable prospects of actually successfully pulling off an invasion and occupation campaignâ€¦
