For Immediate Public Release:
The Project 2049 Institute is delighted to welcome Dr. Evelyn Farkas as a new member of our Board of Directors. Â
Dr. Farkas is President of Farkas Global Strategies, where she advises U.S. clients on business strategy relative to the U.S. and foreign governments. She has three decades of experience working on national security policy—including export control policy, cybersecurity, critical infrastructure protection, and risk mitigation—in the U.S. executive, legislative branch, private sector, and for international organizations overseas. Through this experience, she has developed key relationships with government, business, and nonprofit leaders. Dr. Farkas’s broad experience, including almost a decade overseeing defense relationships in the Asia-Pacific from the Senate Armed Services Committee (which included advising on and traveling to North Korea), and unique perspective regarding Indo-Pacific security architecture are sure to strengthen our Board.Â
Dr. Farkas previously served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia from 2012 to 2015 and Executive Director of the congressionally-mandated bipartisan Commission on the Prevention of WMD Proliferation and Terrorism. Her work has been crucial in advancing U.S. national security policy, including defending democracy, global arms control, and the non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction.Â
According to Project 2049 Institute Chairman Randall Schriver, “Dr. Farkas’s experience and insights are a welcomed expansion of expertise at the Project 2049 Institute and our community. We are thrilled that she is joining us and look forward to a productive future with her added guidance on our Board.â€Â
We are honored to have Dr. Farkas join our Board of Directors and we look forward to having her counsel as we continue our work towards a safer Indo-Pacific region. Please stay tuned for more updates from the Project 2049 Institute.Â
Sincerely,
The Project 2049 Institute Staff
